Heckler & Koch HK416

Thanks for stopping by! What you see here is a Heckler & Koch HK416 "enhanced carbine". The creation took approximately 2 weeks on and off to complete. My main goal for this creation was to capture the carbine's appearance and so functions took a back seat to form. The only semi "working" portion of the creation is the trigger. Using a simple Lego band, the trigger will revert to it's original position when pulled and released. The charging handle, forward assist, stock, and fire selector have no function. Extra attachments on the gun are loosely based on their real world counterpart. Although the gun isn't completely smooth finished, I thought retaining some round studs elements added to the look of the creation and help establish that it is made of Lego bricks and pieces. Unfortunately I wasn't able to replicate the look of the gun 100% in Lego form, but the gun is as close to 1/1 scale I could get with brick size limitations (forearm/handguard is too short thus making the whole gun approximately 1.5" too short). The gun is completely made of genuine Lego bricks and pieces, no plastic were harmed in it's creation.

History

The weapon is a successor of the selected project XM8. It is designed as a replacement for the M16 and M4 rifles.

The idea for this weapon was Heckler & Koch after the revision of the British weapon SA80 of the Royal small arms factory, at a time when both companies were among the Group British Aerospace / Royal ordnance. The development and the testing took place in cooperation with the U.S. special forces unit Delta Force.

The original name of the weapon was probably "HK M4" - an allusion to the M4. After a lawsuit from Colt gun was renamed "HK416" - again alludes to the M4, as well as on the M16.

Technology

The HK416 is the the HK G36 similar to a gas operated rotating bolt head, whose drive rod is connected - not directly related to the closure. This has the advantage that the powder gases pollute very little rifle. The weapon also has a cold hammered barrel. Picatinny rail for mounting sights and other accessories are located on both sides, as well as up and down.

The buttstock is retracted to 10 centimetres, so that the weapon can be adapted to the arm of the shooter or is less an obstacle in spatially close environment.

For the weapon, double-sided controls, a trigger, as well as other barrel lengths are available on request. An AG36 grenade launcher calibre can be attached to the weapon under the barrel 40 × 46 mm.

An additional economic incentive to obtain this weapon offers Heckler & Koch with the so-called "minimum upgrade package". This integrate existing components of other assault rifles.[1] So it would be possible, for example, to take over the buttstock of a M4 along with the trigger Group during the rest of the gun is replaced by the technique of the HK416.

Pindad Refil

The SS2 family of rifles (from Indonesian "Senapan Serbu 2" - Assault Rifle 2) is manufactured in Indonesia by PT Pindad factory and is based on SS1 (FN FNC) rifle, made by the same factory under license from Belgian company FN Herstal. SS2 rifles are in use by Indonesianarmy since 2005, and also are offered for export. Initially available in three basic versions (standard rifle SS2-V1, carbine SS2-V2 and para-sniper SS2-V4) it is now also available in subcompact SS2-V5 version, first shown in 2008.
All SS2 rifles share same basic design and same two-part upper / lower receiver construction. Both upper and lower receiver parts are made from aluminum alloy and connected one to another using two cross-pins. Gas-operated action uses long-stroke gas piston, located above the barrel, and a multi-lug rotary bolt that locks into the barrel extension. Charging handle is attached to the bolt carrier on the right side and moves with the bolt group when gun is fired. Fire mode / safety lever is located on the left side of the gun, and permits for single shots and full automatic fire. All versions are fitted with side-folding skeletonized buttstock, and all variants have integral Picatinny type rail on the top of the receiver. In all versions other than SS2-V4 this rail is fitted with removable carrying handle with diopter-type rear sight. Front sight is attached to the gas block, leaving the muzzle part of the barrel unobstructed, so rifle can be used to fire rifle grenades. The SS2-V4 version is issued less front sight base or carrying handle, being fitted with telescope sight and optional cheek rest on the buttstock. SS2-V4 also features heavier barrel for more accurate long-range fire. SS2-V1 and SS2-V2 variants can be fitted with 40mm under-barrel grenade launcher, also made by Pindad.
